OUR STORY

Kidsize Ltd. was established in March 2017 by Corinne Millar who at the time was a 20 year old teaching student in her third year of University. Corinne has worked with children since the young age of 15 when she began babysitting regularly, since then Corinne has also worked in children’s party entertainment for 3 years, tutoring and has run her own Brownies and Guides unit in Kingswells. Corinne is now a qualified primary teacher at Stoneywood Primary School.

Corinne wanted to create a unique holiday club which every child would enjoy. When Corinne and her sister Jenna were younger, they had never really enjoyed holiday camps due to the lack of diversity in activities and so the aim of Kidsize was to cater activities to all interests.

Kidsizers in 2017

The team began with Corinne, Jenna (her sister), Gillian (her mum), and Belle (her best friend) and has since grown into a small family with over 20 staff members.

We have had hundreds of different children attend our holiday camps, and we have held over 100 holiday camps so far. We have had some crazy, fun and magical themes so far. Some of these themes include: Cirque de Kidsize; Fantasyland Day; Up, Up and Away; Everything is Awesome Week; Halloweek and Valentine’s PJ Party. We have completed so many activities its hard to remember them all but our favourites include: crafts, games, sports, den building, capture the flag, pumpkin carving, cake decorating, t shirt making, acting, science experiments, singing and dancing!
Since then Kidsize has expanded into so much more than just a holiday club. We now offer parties and events with a team of entertainers, face painters, glitter hair braiders and more. These parties and events can be tailored to any theme or interest and are jam packed with crafts, games, dancing and fun! Our highly trained face painters, Jenna and Rachael have attended many events throughout the years, as well as parties, including school fairs and music festivals.

PJ PARTY 2018

In August 2018 we opened our Kidsize Out of School Club for Kingswells Primary School. Our OOSC is registered with the Care Inspectorate. We love creating a fun and relaxing environment for the kids. Jenna took over as Manager of our Out of School Club in March 2020. We post about our Out of School Club on our Blog, which you will find at www.kidsizeltd.com/blog
In October 2019 we expanded our holiday clubs and opened a second Holiday Club at Danestone Community Centre. This was so much and we can't wait to expand our clubs to more new and exciting places!
In 2020 we were greatly affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic and were no longer able to run our holiday clubs or attend any events or parties. From April - August 2020 we ran an emergency childcare hub for the children of keyworkers; in partnership with Aberdeen City Council. We were able to reopen our Out of School Club in August 2020. In October 2020 lockdown measures began to settle and we were then able to open our Holiday Club for the October holidays at both Kingswells and Danestone. It was a strange and new way of running holiday clubs due to all the extra precautions we had to take, but the children still had a great time. We also ran our holiday club during the November in-service days.
We launched our first ever workshops at the end of 2020 - Halloween workshops and Festive Christmas workshops. These are 2 hour sessions where children can take part in crafts as well as a mini disco. We ran these with a limited number of children but they were a huge success. We can't wait to do more workshops in the future!
During lockdown we also launched our Virtual Parties on Zoom. These were a great opportunity for everyone to get together with their friends online and party from their own homes. Our creative team were able to cater to any theme online from Harry Potter to Watermelon theme!
During December we were missing our regular Christmas events that our elves and Santa would attend. To make up for it we decided to do doorstep visits with Santa and his elf all across the city. These were amazing and brought so much joy to the families.

Unfortunately another nationwide lockdown began at the end of December 2020 and continued on until March 2021. During this time we launched our Friday Fun Nights on Zoom for children to attend for free. These are themed nights where we do an activity, play games and have an awesome disco! We wanted to give children something to look forward to each week, to create a sense of community amongst our Kidsizers and most importantly to have some fun!

Altens holiday club 2021

After the lockdown of March 2021 we managed to return to a bit more normality with our regular out of school clubs and holidays running and the return of in person birthday parties. In the Summer of 2021 we launched holiday clubs at a new location - Altens Community Centre. These were super busy and popular that we continued with various holiday clubs and workshops at Altens for the rest of the year and into the beginning of 2022.
In 2022 we celebrated 5 years of Kidsize! We had 2 awesome Birthday Bash parties - one at Kingswells and one at Altens. We can't wait to see what new adventures the future brings!

BIG 5th BIRTHDAY BASH

In October 2022 we expanded our Out of School club as we bought over another club in Kingswells Primary School. We introduced many new staff members and now currently run two fantastic out of school clubs for the families in Kingswells!
